this great dream:
I was at a conference with my new supervisor jane. And it was like the end of the day so we were going back to a hotel restaurant. And we were sitting at a booth table which had done sort of funny mug on it. So jane steals that; just picks it up and pops it in her backpack, while i make a comment about bar glassware.
And then there were a big group of people at the booth next door: it turns out It's a group of students with an advisor. And the advisor is the guy who wrote the theory I used in my phd, Albert Mehrabian. jane, sitting with her laptop open on the table, suddenly calls him over because she had just received an email with feedback about one of our manuscripts (somehow it was not an anonymous review, but by this guy, Albert). So, as she says, she just wants clarity on one point he made in the review.
So he comes and sits with us and does that but then says something about how this particular conference (the one we are apparently at) is his favorite because he's not really a music psychologist, and as such, doesn't get to hang out with music people...plus usually he has to go to Wisconsin anyway. And I'm all like, wait what, Wisconsin? And I ask, is he from there?; and he says no but that there's one holiday there he never misses because it's so great. And it's 4-14 day. And I'm like, oh yeah, I know because I'm from Milwaukee... Milwaukee is great and I want to make 414 tshirts (the 414ever ones) and I tell him that i'll make him one when I do make the shirts. And then he tells me I'm really cool and interesting, and I'm all shocked because this is a big research guy. Meanwhile i'm trying not to be flustered to even be talking to him.
